Acer introduces the Ferrari One Notebook

Acer is giving consumers an affordable way to purchase a Ferrari for the holidays. Though you can’t drive this Ferrari on the road you can definitely take it for a ride on the information superhighway. That’s because Acer is offering a notebook which has been inspired by racing legend Scudetto Ferrari.
The Ferrari One Notebook was originally announced as a launch machine with Windows 7 in October, but seems to be appearing now with a modified spec. It includes a 11.6in HD widescreen display while under the hood it is powered by an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor.Video for the laptop is handled by ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 Graphics which is supplemented by 4GB of DDR2 667MHz system memory. Windows 7 Home Premium also comes preloaded on the laptop’s 250GB hard drive. The notebook, which comes with a one year warranty, will retail for $599.99.
If you know a racing fan who is also a computer geek this Ferrari notebook will be the perfect gift. Acer did a great job of making sure the laptop is as sexy as it is powerful. That sounds like a Ferrari to me.

FASTRA II: the world’s most powerful desktop supercomputer

Is it possible to fit the computing power of a large supercomputer cluster in the tight space of a PC case? In our research on image reconstruction we often have to perform large-scale scientific computations, which can easily take weeks on a normal PC. Last year, the FASTRA project was launched to develop a desktop supercomputer based on gaming hardware. Although highly successful, even FASTRA cannot provide the computational power required for our latest research projects. FASTRA needs a successor, which should be much more powerful, while maintaining the favorable properties of its older brother: green, mobile and inexpensive. For just 6000 euros, you can have 12TFLOPS of computing power at your fingertips.
Part of the Vision Lab of the University of Antwerp, the research group ASTRA focuses on the development of new computational methods for tomography. Tomography is a technique used in medical scanners to create three-dimensional images of the internal organs of patients, based on a large number of X-ray photos that are acquired over a range of angles. ASTRA develops new reconstruction techniques that lead to better reconstruction quality than classical methods.
One of the applications is 3D imaging of bone tissue in mice, which is commonly required in medicine research for osteoporosis. The structures of interest are at the resolution limits of current micro-CT scanners. We are working on advanced computational methods that allow for the computation of higher resolution images based on the same scanner data. The downside: computation time, which was already a major issue, increases even further.

Fortunately, these computations can be carried out in parallel on graphics hardware, much faster than when using normal CPUs. Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) are becoming more and more common now for all kinds of scientific computing. For suitable applications, a single GPU already has the computing power equivalent to a moderate CPU cluster. In collaboration with Tones.be and ASUS, We have now developed a PC design that incorporates 13 GPUs, resulting in a massive 12TFLOPS of computing power.
Although the system is up and running, we are still experiencing software stability issues, probably caused by an incompatibility between the video drivers and the BIOS and Linux modifications we had to use. Check out the blog for more details on the current status of FASTRA II.
The FASTRA II design contains six NVIDIA GTX295 dual-GPU cards, and one GTX275 single-GPU card. To fit all this hardware in a single PC case, a special cage was designed for the graphics cards, which are connected to the motherboard by flexible riser cables. Google Phone is half as thick as the T-Mobile G1

One of the first details everyone heard about the HTC Nexus One, aka the “Google Phone” is just how lusciously thin it is.
That’s important in a smartphone. The trend in phones towards minimization has increasingly shifted away from making phones smaller on the x and y axis, which decreases the phone’s functionality, and shrinking its z axis, which makes a phone feel smaller and lighter without negatively impacting its ease of use.
So how thin is the Nexus One? At first, all we heard was that it was thinner than Apple’s iPhone, which is no mean trick, but now, thanks to an intrepid Google mole, we’ve got an even better idea of the Nexus One’s svelteness.
According to an image published by Boy Genius Report comparing the Nexus One lying side by side with the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, the Google Phone is only half the thickness of the latter phone. Since the G1 is around 17mm thick, it makes sense to estimate the Google Phone to be around 10mm.
Now, granted, the G1 was never described as svelte… but 10mm is still a significant decrease in depth from the iPhone. Thinness matters in smartphone design: it’s the new sexy. For a company as obsessed with thinness as Apple, this has to have their design departments scrambling to shrink down the iPod’s already tightly packed chassis.

Apple, watch out: The FCC approves the Google Phone

Naysayers won’t like this: A Google-developed smartphone dubbed Nexus One has been given the FCC blessing, turning a rumored gizmo into a done deal.
When a product filing emerges in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database, it’s when rumors turn into reality. All electronic products must be checked for interference and approved by the FCC before they can be sold in the US. The FCC publicly posts approved filings on its website that media outlets use as an unofficial source of upcoming new products.
Google Nexus One (Engadget image 001)According to the FCC filing discovered by Engadget on Monday, the so-called Google Phone is actually a HTC device (code-named “Bravo”) with a model number PB99100, marketed as “NEXUSONE.” The document reveals a few “boring” engineering specs rather than Earth-shattering new features. Nexus One will contain Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 802.11b/g wireless networking, contrasting some rumors that have called for the fastest 802.11n standard. Storage-wise, Nexus One will accept microSD cards like almost any other Android-powered smartphone on the market. When it comes to the supported band frequencies, the filing is a bit ambiguous. The bands listed suggest that Nexus One will be a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone supporting both UMTS and high-speed 3HSUPA for 2Mbps uplink and 7.2Mbps downlink, both available on T-Mobile and AT&T.
However, the publication suggested that AT&T may not be supported because the test lab incorrectly listed 815-880MHz frequencies as part of band VIII. Engadget later updated the original article with the following note:
Only WCDMA Band IV was tested in the Part 22H / 24E / 27 Report, leading us to believe that the Nexus One is going to be HSPA 900 / 1700 / 2100 (a pretty common tri-band 3G setup) plus quadband EDGE. Sorry, AT&T, but that’s how the cookie crumbles.

The FCC’s approval of the Nexus One leaves little room to doubt the existence of what the media has pompously dubbed a Google Phone. All that remains now is for Google’s marketing folks to press the “launch” button. With the FCC filing now public and the CES 2010 almost upon us, I bet that Nexus One will launch in January 2010, as most rumors have predicted. I believe that the question of the bands listed raised in Engadget’s report will soon be sorted out. Frankly, I’d find it hard to believe Google would limit the flagship device to T-Mobile’s network only.
T-Mobile is the nation’s fourth-largest wireless carrier that reported 33.4 million users in the third quarter. Should Nexus One launch on both T-Mobile and AT&T (81.6 million subscribers reported for the third quarter), the device will be tapping the potential addressable market of nearly 120 million subscribers. The figure represents roughly 40 percent of the nation’s population and it also eclipses Verizon Wireless’ 89 million subscribers reported in the third quarter. On the other hand, it’s quite possible that AT&T wouldn’t risk its cosy relationship with Apple by greeting a possible iPhone killer on its network. If it does, then it won’t be too long before the iPhone hits T-Mobile’s US network, as suggested in an earlier report.

Foxconn releases two sexy Bamboo PC cases

Although the innards of computers are about as toxic as ever, cases are getting more and more environmentally friendly thanks to consumer pressure. One particular material that cases are increasingly being manufactured from is bamboo. Bamboo not only looks good, but it’s also durable and quickly replenishable, since it grows so quickly.
The latest company to jump on the bamboo bandwagon is Foxconn, whose latest two bamboo desktop cases are just indescribably sexy, even if they look a little bit like set props from Gilligan’s Island.
The first case is a mid-tower called the Bamboo One, which replaces the front cover — normally made of plastic — with a darkly stained bamboo wood. It’s not without its faults: the drive bay covers aren’t cut from the same bamboo as the front piece as a whole, so the patterns and colors don’t quite match. But it is undeniably cute to see those vendor stickers slapped upon a wooden case.
The other chassis is for home theater enthusiasts looking to build an HTPC system, called the Bamboo II TMX-355. Unlike the Bamboo One, the smaller chassis has a bamboo front cover cut from one piece so it all matches.
I’d be tempted to drop money on one or both of these. The HTPC oriented Bamboo II would look particularly good in my entertainment center. Too bad that Foxconn reports that both chassises sold out quickly. Hopefully, they’ll remake them and release them in the States soon.

Toshiba debuts 64GB flash chip: A 128GB iPod touch and 256GB Apple tablet come to mind

Toshiba 64GB NAND flash moduleA new chip offers twofold storage increase, paving the way for a 128GB iPod touch, and a capacious flash-based Apple tablet.
Toshiba has launched a new 64GB embedded NAND flash memory module this morning, the highest capacity yet achieved in the industry. The semiconductor giant advertised the new chip as a flagship product of its lineup consisting of six embedded NAND flash memory modules that offer full compliance with the latest e•MMC standard and its new features, including defining multiple storage areas and enhanced security.
The entire lineup includes chips in densities ranging from 2GB to 64GB. The top-of-the-line 64GB module will enter mass production in the first quarter of 2010, but samples are available today, Toshiba said. The new chips have been engineered by combining multiple 32nm NAND units on a single die that also includes a dedicated controller. Toshiba beat the industry by combining sixteen 4GB NAND units on a single die to achieve 64GB capacity of the flagship chip. The company pitched its new lineup to smartphones, mobile phones, netbooks, and digital video cameras.

This interesting development almost guarantees a 64GB iPhone 3GS and 128GB iPod touch upgrade in the near future. Apple is almost certainly going to use its buying power to prepay for the whole output of Toshiba’s 64GB chip in order to create artificial shortages and get the best price. Such a practice has put Apple at odds with the flash memory makers who accuse the Californian firm of manipulating the market to its own advantage. Apple is consuming an estimated 25 percent of the world’s flash memory.
iPod touch (3G): Gaming (two angled units)On the other hand, Apple’s huge appetite for NAND flash chips has enabled the company to upgrade its portable products with twice the storage for the same price. Whichever way you look at it, the iPhone and iPod touch should once again beat rival gizmos on storage for a limited time. A possible 128GB iPod touch will be a milestone upgrade because it’ll put the touch-based music player dangerously close to the 160GB hard drive-based iPod classic. Apple currently employs two 32GB NAND flash modules in its 64GB iPod Touch. If a 128GB NAND flash module becomes a reality the next year, it could easily mark the end of the line for the iPod classic.
Toshiba’s 64GB chip is also a natural fit for Apple’s rumored tablet that will need spacious storage to accommodate your iTunes library. I’m only speculating here, but utilizing four or eight 64GB NAND chips would theoretically enable Apple to offer two tablet versions – 256GB and 512GB. Note that Apple ordered half a billion dollars worth of NAND chips from Toshiba earlier this year. The research firm iSuppli recently predicted an estimated sixfold increase in the NAND flash demand between 2008 and 2013, the spike mostly contributed to the iPhone. The company estimated global revenue from sales of NAND chips for mobile phones to reach nearly $1 billion by 2013. Besides Toshiba, Apple buys NAND flash modules from multiple vendors, including Samsung, the world’s leading NAND flash manufacturer, Hynix (#3 flash chip maker), and others.

The entire lineup includes chips in densities ranging from 2GB to 64GB. The top-of-the-line 64GB module will enter mass production in the first quarter of 2010, but samples are available today, Toshiba said. The new chips have been engineered by combining multiple 32nm NAND units on a single die that also includes a dedicated controller. Toshiba beat the industry by combining sixteen 4GB NAND units on a single die to achieve 64GB capacity of the flagship chip. The company pitched its new lineup to smartphones, mobile phones, netbooks, and digital video cameras.

This interesting development almost guarantees a 64GB iPhone 3GS and 128GB iPod touch upgrade in the near future. Apple is almost certainly going to use its buying power to prepay for the whole output of Toshiba’s 64GB chip in order to create artificial shortages and get the best price. Such a practice has put Apple at odds with the flash memory makers who accuse the Californian firm of manipulating the market to its own advantage. Apple is consuming an estimated 25 percent of the world’s flash memory.
iPod touch (3G): Gaming (two angled units)On the other hand, Apple’s huge appetite for NAND flash chips has enabled the company to upgrade its portable products with twice the storage for the same price. Whichever way you look at it, the iPhone and iPod touch should once again beat rival gizmos on storage for a limited time. A possible 128GB iPod touch will be a milestone upgrade because it’ll put the touch-based music player dangerously close to the 160GB hard drive-based iPod classic. Apple currently employs two 32GB NAND flash modules in its 64GB iPod Touch. If a 128GB NAND flash module becomes a reality the next year, it could easily mark the end of the line for the iPod classic.
Toshiba’s 64GB chip is also a natural fit for Apple’s rumored tablet that will need spacious storage to accommodate your iTunes library. I’m only speculating here, but utilizing four or eight 64GB NAND chips would theoretically enable Apple to offer two tablet versions – 256GB and 512GB. Note that Apple ordered half a billion dollars worth of NAND chips from Toshiba earlier this year. The research firm iSuppli recently predicted an estimated sixfold increase in the NAND flash demand between 2008 and 2013, the spike mostly contributed to the iPhone. The company estimated global revenue from sales of NAND chips for mobile phones to reach nearly $1 billion by 2013. Besides Toshiba, Apple buys NAND flash modules from multiple vendors, including Samsung, the world’s leading NAND flash manufacturer, Hynix (#3 flash chip maker), and others.

Remote Desktop

Remote Desktop?
Kurang lebih berarti desktop jarak jauh, yaitu desktop yang sebenarnya bukan desktop komputer yang sedang kita operasikan. Melainkan desktop dari komputer lain. Di ubuntu kita bisa bekerja secara remote, misalnya ada beberapa kerjaan  yang waktunya bentrok tapi harus kita kerjakan. Baik itu sesama ubuntu / linux maupun dengan winxxx. Daripada kita harus mondar-mandir kesana-kemari lebih baik kita gunakan fasilitas remote desktop ini.

Contoh :

1. Ubuntu vs winxxx.

Kita ingin menginstall browser firefox di laptop / komputer lain yang kebetulan ber OS winxxx, sedangkan kita sendiri sedang ada kerjaan dengan ubuntu kita. Nah daripada kita harus berpindah tempat, ga ada salahnya kita bekerja secara remote. Caranya cukup simpel.

Di terminal / shell ubuntu ( Application, Accessories, Terminal ) kita ketikkan perintah berikut, rdesktop [ip komputer target] :

rdesktop 192.168.1.100





maka kita akan dibawa pada jendela login winxxx dalam desktop kita dan diminta untuk menuliskan user dan password yang sah, sesuai dengan user dan password pada komputer remote. Oia Jo.. rdesktop ini suport warna 16 bit, jadi kalau kita setingan warna menggunakan 32 bit, maka secara otomatis akan di degradasi ke mode 16 bit, so jangan heran kalau untuk beberapa tampilan akan mengalami penurunan kualitas grafik, tapi tidak sampai fatal, karena masih nyaman untuk dilihat oleh mata kita. Liat tuh di atas ada view gambarnya ;) remote desktop yang tampil dalam desktop local kita.

Tapi untuk itu kita harus mengaktifkan setingan remote di winxxx nya. Klik kanan My Computer, pilih Properties, pilih Remote. Disana carilah Kalimat ini " Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" check listlah, pilih Apply dan OK. Untuk setingan lainnya silakan liat-liat pada menu yang ada disana. hehe..y

2. Ubuntu vs Ubuntu
Pada dasarnya sama dengan winxxx, kita seting dulu komputer target, supaya mengijinkan Remote Desktop. System, Preference, Remote Desktop. Maka kita akan menuju Remote Desktop Preference. Disana pilihlah pengaturan sebagai berikut :

  • Allow other users to view your desktop, artinya kita mengijinkan user lain untuk melihat desktop kita.

  • Allow other user to control your desktop, artinya kalau kita aktifkan ini, maka user lain bisa mengontrol desktop kita secara remote. Kalau tidak kita pilih yang ini tapi cuma milih yang atas, maka user lain hanya diijinkan untuk melihat desktop kita secara remote tanpa bisa mengendalikannya. Ya jadi penonton ajah...




Security :

  • Require the user to enter this password : isikanlah password untuk bisa me-remote view desktop kita, sehingga kalau ada user yangmencobanya tanpa mengisi passwordnya maka dia tidak akan bisa, meskipun dari siang sampai subuh!!! hehey... Artinya orang-orang tertentulah yang bisa mengisikannya dan umumnya dia mendapatkannya dari kita / user bersangkutan.
Notification Area :

  • Always display an icon, artinya di desktop akan selalu muncul icon remote viewer, meski tidak ada user remote yang sedang aktif
  • Only  display an icon when there is someone connected, maksudnya adalah apabila ada user lain yang mencoba melihat atau mengendalikan desktop kita, maka di layar kita akan muncul adanya icon notifikasi yang menunjukkan bahwa sedang ada user lain yang melihat / mengontrol desktop kita
  • Never display an icon, kalau kita memilih ini, maka manakala ada user lain yang melihat desktop kita maka kita kitak mengetahuinya karena tidak ada icon yang menunjukkan desktop kita sedang di "sabot"
Untuk bisa melihat  desktop  komputer target secara remote, maka dari komputer kita klik Applications, Internet, Remote Desktop Viewer, kurang lebih view nya seperti ini Jo...

Dual OS Win & Ubuntu :: Catatan Ringan

Sebetulnya ini udah bukan barang baru, tp cos ada yg nanyain gimana caranya bikin dual os dalam 1 komputer jadi g salah kalau saiah tjoba untuk sedikit mengingat kembali, step bae by step nya ;).


Salah satu alasan kita membuat sistem yang dual os adalah karena masih adanya ketergantungan pada salah satu os, sedangkan untuk sekedar mencoba linux dengan live cd dirasa kurang ngehh.. Jadi satu jalan diambil yakni dengan dual os ini. Meski sebenarnya bisa saja kita menginstall program virtualisasi  didalam win ataupun linux kita dengan bermacam program virtualisasi seperti vmware maupun virtualbox.
Teknisnya gini Jo.. 
  1. Win nya sebaiknya sudah terinstall, sebab kalau kita menginstall ubuntu duluan, maka grub ( boot loader untuk linux )  akan dihapus / ditimpa dengan mbr ( master boor record ) nya windows.
  2. Cek dulu CPU kita, apakah memungkinkan untuk nancepin os ( disini dia minta ubuntu ) baru. Artinya kita liat spek mouse, speaker, keyboard processor, ram dan juga kapasitas hardisknya. Kalau memang space yang tersisa masih besar, maka langsung saja ke no.3
  3. Untuk memudahkan kita dalam menginstall ubuntu sebagai os kedua, bikinlah satu partisi baru di hardisk kita. Gunakanlah program partisi yang mudah kita pahami. Biar ga bingung nanti dalam memilih drive tempat nancepin ubuntu, sebaiknya tuh partisi baru kita, pakai file sistem yang beda dengan yang kita pakai. Misal kalau kita pakai NTFS, maka (misalnya) bikinlah file sistem yang baru dengan FAT ataupun yang lainnya.
  4. Persiapkan CD installer ubuntu, rubahlah setingan di bios komputer untuk bisa boot up dari cdrom. Kalau udah bisa restartlah dan ikuti petunjuknya. Pilih install dan ikuti step berikutnya
  5. Setelah sampai pada bagian tentang partisi, disana kita pilih manual partision dan pilihlah partisi baru ( dengan file sistem yang berbeda tadi ). Bikinlah partisi dengan titik kait "/ " untuk root nya, sebaiknya jangan terlalu besar sizenya ( misal 10 Gb ). Lalu dari sisa space yang ada kita bikin titik kait lainnya untuk home, kecuali kita ingin mengatur besar volume lainnya dan sisakan untuk swap minimal 2 x memori kita. Untuk file sistemnya gunakan ext3 ataupun ext4. Kemudian pilihlah yes pada saat ditanya akan menulis perubahan yang kita lakukan.
  6. Ikuti step selanjutnya seperti nama user dan password, seting network dll. Intinya saat semuanya beres, maka ubuntu akan menjalankan prosesi instalasi, dan akhirnya kita akan ditanya apakan akan menginstall boot loader, pilih yes, tunggu beberapa saat sampai prosesnya selesai yang ditandai dengan keluarnya CD installer, tekan enter dan komputer akan restart sendiri.
  7. Setelah restart, maka seharusnya kita sudah memiliki komputer dengan dual os, well selamat..
Sori Jo.. ga ada visualisasinya, cos ini sekedar catatan ringan ( dari ingatan lagi ) yang tidak dipersiapkan dengan baik.  Tapi kurang lebih begitulah prosesnya untuk kita membangun dual os win & ubuntu  pada komputer kita... ;)

Gnome Music Applet

Music Applet adalah Gnome panel applet yang memungkinkan kita untuk dapat mengontrol bermacam musik player dari panel. Music Applet ini memiliki akses tentang informasi lagu yang sedang diputar dan kendali playback ( pemutar ) yang sudah umum pada semua pemutar musik.

Music Applet saat ini telah mendukung beberapa player, diantaranya adalah :
* Amarok
* Audacious
* Banshee
* Exaile
* MPD
* Muine
* Quod Libet

Untuk bisa menginstallnya di ubuntu gunakan perintah berikut :


sudo apt-get install music-applet

Yap, just like that, just waiting sampai prosesi instalasi nya beres, maka otomatis Music Applet akan terinstall di ubuntu kita. Untuk mengaktifkannya, klik kanan pada panel, trus pilih Add to panel maka akan segera keluar window applet seperti di bawah ini, pilihlah Music Applet dan add.



Setelah itu maka dipanel akan muncul Music Applet nya. Seperti ini neh...



Oke Jo.. simple, tapi usefull saat kita lagi runing player yang diminimize, untuk mengoperasikannya tinggal klik tombol playback yang ada.

Install Chromium Browser Di Ubuntu

Chromium adalah salah satu proyek browser open-source yang bertujuan
untuk menciptakan satu pengalaman web yang lebih aman, lebih cepat dan
stabil bagi semua pengguna internet. Basis kode dari chromium sendiri adalah
google chrome.


Untuk menginstallnya di ubuntu, langkah pertamanya adalah dengan
mengedit file /etc/apt/sources.list menggunakan editor favorit kita.
Misal kita ingin mengeditnya dengan gedit, maka di shell kita tuliskan
perintah berikut :


sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list


Jo...
kalau kita diminta password isikanlah password yang diminta itu seperti
biasa ( anggaplah kita sedang di interogasi oleh polantas, apakah kita
memiliki surat-surat kendaraan yang lengkap sesuai dengan aturan yang
berlaku. Dan ini tidak bisa dimanipulasi atau disuap dengan memasukkan
sembarang kode, hehe.. just kidding Jo..). Kemudian masukkan beberapa
baris berikut ini kedalamnya di bagian bawah :

Untuk Ubuntu 9.10 dengan alias Karmic Koala ( karmic )
masukkan dua baris berikut

Dan Apdet source list kita dengan perintah standar lalu tunggu sampai prosesi updet nya kelar

Finally, install chromium dengan perintah berikut :

Nah, kan beres tuh install nya, sekarang giliran menjalankan chromium nya gimana? Oia ya... gini Jo...

Pilih Applications, Internet, Chromium Web Browser , dus... saat pertama kali kita jalankan maka akan muncul tampilan / konfirmasi yang menanyakan apakah akan menjadikan chromium sebagai web browser default?



Nah yang ini, isi sesuai selera kita, tinggal ngasih tanda centang alias check list aja dan akan mengimport setingan dari browser sebelumnya. Aapabila firefox / mungkin web browser default lainnya sedang runing, kita akan diminta untuk menutupnya terlebih dahulu.



Ya ikutin aja apa maunya.

Pilih Applications, Internet, Chromium Web Browser , dus... saat pertama kali kita jalankan maka akan muncul tampilan / konfirmasi yang menanyakan apakah akan menjadikan chromium sebagai web browser default?



Nah yang ini, isi sesuai selera kita, tinggal ngasih tanda centang alias check list aja dan akan mengimport setingan dari browser sebelumnya. Aapabila firefox / mungkin web browser default lainnya sedang runing, kita akan diminta untuk menutupnya terlebih dahulu.



Ya ikutin aja apa maunya.

Browsing Text Mode ala elinks

Hari ini ada hal yang unik saya dapatkan dari buntu. Dan ini belum pernah saya lakukan sebelumnya. Bukan hal besar sih, tapi ada satu kesan yang ga biasa saya dapatkan. Browsing, ya browsing internet yang biasa menggunakan Firefox, Opera, maupun konqueror, barusan saya coba untuk browsing internet ala jadul, jadul banget kali.


Ko jadul Jo... iya sebab cuma browsing dengan modus teks. Emang sih ngga seindah dan senyaman GUI. Tapi ga salah kan, kita coba yang dulu pernah dilakukan "nenek moyang kita" ;). Untuk bisa browsing dalam mode teks di Ubuntu kita sebelumnya menginstalkan program yang kita butuhkan. Disini kita pakai elinks, ya elinks.


Cara installnya seperti biasa dengan menggunakan koneksi internet cukup kita ketikkan di shell 
#sudo apt-get install elinks dan biarkan sistem bekerja sendiri, mengonfigurasi perkakasnya sendiri sampai benar-benar selesai.


Nah setelah selesai semuanya, kita bisa segera menggunakan elinks untuk browsing. Tapi jangan kaget ya, dengan kesederhanaan tampilannya. Untuk kinerjanya saiah sendiri belum mengujinya, tapi kesan yang bisa ditangkap adalah kecepatannya Jo.. sepertinya lebih cepat deh.. 

Caranya? Ketikkan aja #elinks di shell. Oia untuk mengetahui menunya, bisa kita peroleh dengan cara menekan tombol Esc, maka akan muncul menu elinks di bagian atas, ala browser-browser yang iasa kita gunakan dalam mode GUI .



Penasaran? Coba aja ndiri.. eit jangan lupa install dulu elinks nya di ubuntu kita. Eling jo.. install elinks nya dulu... hehe... Ini neh shootnya...
